04/03/2008: "Alvin fastest DVD seller of the year"
Variety reports that the big-screen adaption of Alvin And The Chipmunks has sold more than 2.6 million units in one day, making it the fastest selling DVD of the year so far. Alvin outsold I Am Legend, the previous holder of the number one spot, as well as Enchanted, another hybrid of animation and live-action. Alvin had a worldwide intake of over $350 million during it’s run in theaters, and was released on DVD April 1st.
