While writing about “Faith, Home and Pixie Dust,” the new album of Disney covers by Broadway star (and, since this morning, Tony Award nominee) Kerry Butler, Jim Hill points to three little heard songs featured on the CD: “Call Me a Princess, Princess Jasmine’s caustic comic number that wound up getting cut from Aladdin; Disneyland, Howard Ashman’s heartfelt tribute to the Happiest Place on Earth from ‘Smile;’ as well as one song that has never been recorded before: This Only Happens in the Movies, a number that Alan Menken and Glenn Slater wrote for Who Discovered Roger Rabbit, the unproduced sequel for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.” You can now preview those three catchy tunes at Kerry Butler’s official site.
