The Lion King, which was loosely based on the tale of Hamlet, has earned a spot on Rotten Tomatoe’s list of greatest Shakespeare movies. The list, which consists of 30 different films based on the works of Shakespeare, places The Lion King at number eight with a rating of 92%. “Richly drawn and beautifully animated, The Lion King stands among Disney’s pantheon of classic family films,” the critical consensus states.
