02/15/2004 Archives: "Looney Tunes swing back into action in the UK"

The Looney Tunes are set to repeat the Stateside success of their Golden DVD Collection, when a similar four disc boxed set is issued in the UK tomorrow, Monday 16 February. Two seperate "All-Stars" discs have already been released, but the new box (advertised as seemingly only available exclusively at HMV stores) collects these cartoons together with the specialised Bugs 'n' Daffy discs to make up the 56-cartoon collection as released in the States last year.

The box set comes hot the heels of the UK cinema release of Joe Dante/Eric Goldberg's Back In Action feature film, just out this weekend for the school holidays. However, the film does not look like it will be able to turn around its poor US showing last November, as it's only playing on a limited number of screens, and only at "kid-friendly" times, also facing strong competition from other family features opening this week: Steve Martin in Cheaper By The Dozen, Disney's Eddie Murphy-starrer The Haunted Mansion, and still-strong performing Christmas holdovers Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King, Big Fish and Peter Pan. The Looney Tunes: Back In Action region one DVD is scheduled for release on March 2nd.
