Over at DVD Toons, Ben Simon takes a look at the new Spike And Mike DVD compilation, Cutting Edge Classics. "With this particular collection it may be true in a couple of occurrences that films come and go with little story or character cleverness apart from the odd technical touch, but overall this is a fairly 'safe bet' approach to the kind of shorts that will have widespread audience appeal", he says. "As a collection, it’s eclectic, but there are not really a lot of dynamics in the choices and some older dramatic pieces might have provided more nourishment. Essential? By no means, but one may occasionally discover a rare gem".
