02/01/2005 Archives: "Song of the South DVD release in near future?"

Following a report at IGN FilmForce concerning its release, The Internet Movie Database also spotlights the much-requested DVD release of Song of the South. Reportedly, Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook stated that Disney has received more requests for a DVD release of Song of the South than any other film. For example, SongoftheSouth.net has currently acquired 65,030 names on a petition supporting a release of the film on DVD. Cook stated that he was "confident" Song of the South could someday be released in a solution similar to way that the Walt Disney Treasures DVD series has handled sensitive issues, employing "introductions that place the material in context".
