06/15/2005 Archives: "Zemeckis' Beowulf"

The JoBlo movie news site has a little on director Bob Zemeckis' next performance-capture feature. Used last year on The Polar Express, Zemeckis is using the system on Beowulf, with Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, Ray Winstone and Brendan Gleeson all signed up. Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman have adapted the epic old English poem about Beowulf, King of the Gaets, following his battles with the troll-like Grendel and a fire-breathing dragon. Before that hits theaters, Zemeckis is producing Monster House, another feature using the same computer-assisted animation technique, due out next summer.
