01/04/2006 Archives: "Bambi II review; Kong, Rings, Potter set for HD discs"

Video Business indicates today that Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings and King Kong films will be among the first titles offered on high-definition DVD disc, alongside Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire and the Mission: Impossible trilogy, the third of which is out in theaters this summer. Other titles that feature animation or groundbreaking visual effects include RoboCop, Terminator 2 and Ice Age, which will all see premieres on the formats before the end of the year.

In its print edition, VB also takes a first look at Disney's upcoming Bambi II, the direct-to-video "mid-quel" that comes to stores on February 7. The review speaks pretty highly of the tale, and reveals a running time of 71 minutes, the fact that Bambi's mother will return in flashback scenes, and that Christopher Lee is among the cast.
