08/23/2006 Archives: "Wedge takes on Leaf Men"

Yahoo! Movies/Reuters writes that Ice Age director Chris Wedge will helm a computer animated adaptation of William Joyce's picture book The Leaf Men and Brave Good Bugs. Twentieth Century Fox is developing the project. "Described as an epic adventure centering on ancient elfin magic, the book follows a troop of brave bugs who march off to save a garden, where they encounter an evil spider queen and must summon the mythical Leaf Men to save the day." Joyce himself is writing the movie's screenplay, with Jim V. Hart. Previously, Wedge was set to direct Wainscott Weasel, which has been shelved, according to studio sources.
