WB might wanna focus on some H-B retail releases sometime, to aid fans (like me) unable to order online; you know, what with the economy back on the rebound and all...

On thier facebook page wb wants you to pick the next h-b dvd.

http://www.facebook.com/login.php

Your choices are--

Top Cat and The Beverly Hills Cats
Jonny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects
The Jetsons meet the Flintstones

Why is the second jonny quest film on there but not the first one jonny's golden quest?

Golden Quest never did get a retail release. It fits better with the 1980s show, also yet to come to DVD. Glad I have it on an off-the-air tape.

Here's a new Cinema Classics review, with two of my favorite comedy stars in a little-seen gem:

Elsewhere on the Abbott & Costello-rarity front, Warner Archive has now given a home to Columbia's archive Classics, making it easier to find Lou's post-Bud kiddy-film solo in "The 30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock".

(Personally, think Warner should just open their doors and create a one-site collective for all the studios' Archive lines, and then we'd know where the heck to find those MGM and Paramount ones.)

Paramount are doing them too?

I knew about WB and Columbia, natch, and that Universal has something going on through Amazon, where I also saw a few random MGMs, but Paramount has also entered the fray?

Man, I wish some enterprising onliner would start up a MOD site to keep track of all these! Good idea, Eric, that WB act as an all-studio "distributor" for the concept: would be neat to be able to browse individual catalogs by studio.

(Oops, not anymore; thought I saw Houdini and Jaunty Jalopies come out under their own studio archive label on Amazon a while ago.
Fox is also sending their obscure catalogs off to a "Twilight" label, but no one knows where to find them apart from a soundtrack-reprint site, http://www.screenarchives.com - )

Ahh, you mean the Legend Films releases. They're a small company that got into a license deal to put out Paramount titles that The Mountain didn't want to have to deal with. This was before MOD came along, and some of them sold in good numbers. Legend are also responsible for the new BD double-bills that are coming out, such as that Houdini/Jaunty Jalopies disc. I reviewed the original DVD of Jalopies back when Legend first brought it out:

I knew about Fox's titles on the Screen Archives site (a wonderful place where I spend waaay too much money!), and they also handle the MGM titles there, since MGM still releases "through" Fox, even with MOD discs.

I voted for the Jonny Quest movie, but this is a great choice, too--- quite fun seeing the two families get together. And of course, all three movies from the poll will likely be out in the near future anyhow, but it's fun to do the polls.

Warner Archive is on a roll with their Hanna-Barbera Collections. Frankenstein Jr. And The Impossibles may be nearly forgotten, but it's a suitable reminder as to why so many of us love vintage H-B cartoons. Professional design, funny gags, imaginative villains, zowie action, and great voice work make for a darn good show.

And here are the Gobots!

This was my first experience watching the show, though I do recall it being on, back in the day. Not the best show, but it's certainly a fun concept. I'm sure fans will be happy to get this.

My next Warner Archive review will be The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones!
