Yes, but I think - er - hope Raimi (sp?) knows what he's doing by now.

The only way I can see this working is if they write Gwen as someone who persues Peter while knowing full well that he's taken. If they did it that way and made Peter attempting to spurn her advances, I think it could be okay. That's just my opinion.

Hmm, that'd work.

We'll see what happens.

But we all know what happened to Gwen in the strip. SM3 could have a very dark plot indeed.

It would have to star Susan Storm.

And they'd all have to fight with each other.

But you know, I think the expression on Mary Jane's face at the end of Spider-Man 2 speaks volumes that maybe none of us are hearing at the moment. I don't think Mary Jane loves Spider-Man anymore - but she does love Peter.

Hence, there could be a problem for Peter/Spider-Man. After all, they are the same person. So what happens when the girl you love only loves half of you?

But then, there's the question that Spider-Man may be more than just half of Peter. After all, his life revolves around saving people. If such is the case, then Mary Jane may be in love with a man who barely exists anymore.

And that could be where Gwen comes into play.

What if Gwen loves Spider-Man... and in the end, her hero - her love - is partly responsible for her death.
I can see Harry on top of the bridge right now, holding Mary Jane on one side, Gwen on the other, making Peter/Spider-Man choose which side of his life is more important to him.

Maybe Harry will finally feel that he has made his dad proud, not just by recreating his father's trap, but by making it far more haunting and complicated.

That's really provacative. I also thought about the look on Mary Jane's face at the end of the film, like she's not really that sure about her choice.
Very astute observations.
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Hmmm. Interesting thoughts there, Mick.

I noticed the look on her face, too. They mentioned it in the commentary but other than that didn't say much about it.

Disturbing, as in, "You're going to give me nightmares" disturbing.

I'm scared!
